Many, many years ago I visited Florence on a school trip
with my classmates. We were given the privilege to wander
through Florence without supervision.
As little photos I took that day, I still remember Florence
vividly: the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral,
buying street-art from Asian painters, the Ponte Vecchio bridge,
purchasing knock-off Dolce & Gabbana belts, almost
getting lost, having sore feet at the end of the day...
When I returned to Florence this summer, I revisited
everything but with a fast pace. Due to crowds
(it was July after all) I didn't go inside the main
touristic sites, except stopping at a local cafe here and there
for a refreshment (read: gelato). I was pleased to
see that I still knew my way around and Jersey Shore-free!

I was in Florence several years ago. What a great trip. I love these pictures.
As usual, the photos are just breath-taking!
*love* Italy though have not visited Florence yet - I know what you mean about crowded though, Rome was impossible this summer, you could hardly move!

Sometimes it's nice just to breathe in the atmosphere and avoid the tourist trail. I love Il Duomo - breathtaking landmark.
