Hej!
My third and last full day has arrived and I promised myself, that after
all that shopping, I'd go to see loads of touristic sightseeing;
the sandsculpture festival on the beach, the cake festival in the park,
and go to see the little mermaid one more time.
Well, I'm not feeling so good. Nothing serious but I just got a little
late to bed last night. Yes, there was a party involved.
Anyway after noon, I really motivated myself to get up and go do something.
After a quick trip to the grocery store, I head down to every-tourist-must-see, Nyhavn.

Ahhhh, I can never grow tired of this sight!
Onnnn to the little mermaid!

Lovely, isn't she?
I hear there's a male counterpart somewhere in the city...
Something to look for on the next trip!
I picked a few free Danish newspapers along the way.
They have the same Metro newspaper as we do in the Netherlands.
Though, if you look closer, you'll see that the Danes have far better covers than we do:

And I'm ending this short day with my favorite beer, which is really hard to find
outside of Denmark; Carlsberg. Love it!

That was the only size they had, mind you!!
Hej, hej!
Hej!
After a long day of walking yesterday, my legs feel like they're packing all of
those delicious pastries from yesterday so I was in the mood for a more healthy
breakfast this morning...

What went wrong?
Okay I know: it started at the bakery's counter where I was more mesmerized
by the Danish pastries than the rugbrød (Danish rye bread).
Then, there was a free sample tray on the counter from which I ate
a glazed sweet.
And, the friendly girl behind the counter told me that the croissants
were amazing... Sold!
Screw a healthy, hearty breakfast! Why go to a bakery, if you're not
going to pick up something sweet?
On to the best part of Copenhagen: Shopping!
Walking on this square, I stepped into Denmark's largest department
store, Magasin du Nord.

OWMYGOD, their shoe department is insane!! Such Pretty Ballerinas...
that's the name of the brand; Pretty Ballerinas.

They sparkled like Edward Cullen.
The cooking-floor could compete with Paris' La Grande Epicurie.

Danes love to bake. Countless of baking books :D
Too bad it's in Danish!

I bought some really beautiful items for my home.

After the high of shopping for clothes, I needed another high from sugar.
So I went to the basement level and rested at Agnes Cupcakes.

Cinnamon roll cupcake with cream cheese frosting and a mini strawberry cuppie.
So good!!
After losing way too much money in Magasin du Nord, I walked along
Europe's longest pedestrian street Strøget and stepped into another
department store called Illum. Heaven again!
I think the staircase of the store pretty much sums it up what an amazing
store it was:

Again, I am seduced by a lovely bakery counter...

To buy or not to buy, that is the question.

Haha, all in all an wonderful day here again in lovely Copenhagen.
New love-affair with this city.
Godmorgen!
My second day here in Copenhagen, but my first full day.
I loved waking up to this view from my friend's balcony. I think it's kinda lovely.

But it was even lovelier getting out breakfast just steps away from my
new favorite bakery, Brødkunsten.
My friend suggested I'd try their cinnamon rolls, so I did!

Wow! One of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever tasted.
Complete with cool skim milk makes this breakfast perfection.
So off to the city centre!
Along the way, and crossing the bridge I just had to stop to take in
the beautiful sights of Copenhagen.

I would love to do my daily-run here.
I also spotted swans in the river here :)
And how cool is this?!
A meter on the bridge that counts the cyclists that pass.
It was funny seeing how the number went up and up!
So Danish.

It says: "Hey cyclist! You are number 3345 of today.
And number 2,467,682 this year that cyclist by here.
Good trip. And thank you for bicycling by!"
After all the sweets, walking and new impressions, I was pretty hungry
and in the mood for a hearty meal. I stopped at a place called Redfellas
and ordered their ABC sandwich; advocado, bacon and chicken on brown
bread with vitamin water. Very fulfilling!

And of course, a proper lunch needs a proper dessert, so on my way back
I stopped at Brødkunsten again and ordered a raspberry-filled
shortbread, called hinbærsnitter in Danish and another chocolate roll.

I'm in love with this place!

Way too many sweets for me to try out this trip...
This calls for a returning visit to Copenhagen!
Till next post!
Hej!
I am back from Denmark, and now I proudly present my pictures
I took of lovely Copenhagen, particulary the cakes and sweets!
So on to business!
I flew from Düsseldorf, Germany and ate a lovely lunch at the airport.
A croissant with Bonne Maman cherry jam - how very French!

Some people hate to fly. I am not one of them.
Gorgeous views!

I arrived safely in Denmark and exchanged my euros for Danish kroner.
I always feel very rich after doing this; 1 euro equals 7,5 kroner.
I took a train ride from the airport to Nørreport in the city centre and
met my friend there. She showed me her neighborhood and suggested a few
favorite bakeries of hers, which I scribled down quickly.
We sat down at a gem of a café, Savoir, which serves tapas and
an endless selection of some of the best cakes I have ever tasted!
I asked the Italian waiter what kind of cakes they were serving today
and it was just impossible to choose! Raspberry - chocolate, oreo cheesecake,
chocolate cheesecake, lemon meringue, brownies, cookies and much more.
I finally decided on a luscious-looking coconut/banana meringue slice.
It was pure heaven, I tell you. Heaven!

Ohmygawd! So full after this piece! My friend chose her favorite,
an oreo cheesecake slice.

Beautiful, no-fuss, home-made cakes is what their motto is.
It suits me! You should pay a visit if you ever happen to be in Copenhagen.
It's on Guldbergsgade 11.
That's it for my pictures of day 1. It was only a half day including the traveling.
Till tomorrow!
