Bergen, Norway

My Denmark-blogging is over (for now), it's time to continue where we left off in Norway.
We visited Trondheim and the Lofoten Islands, and now Bergen.

Bergen is the second-largest city in Norway (after Oslo). It has a population of 390,600.
The city center and northern neighborhoods are located on Byfjorden and the city is built
around the Seven Mountains.

The row of traditional wooden, colored houses are called Bryggen.
We went by cable-car on top of the Fløyen mountain which gave us panoramic views
of the city ♥.

Love,

There are some places in the world you wish everyone got a chance to see.
Places to visit before you die. I hear New Zealand is one of them.
I suggest adding the Lofoten Islands to that list.

You can see where the Lofoten Islands are located on the map.
It existed in the early Viking Age, maybe even earlier.

Stockfish has been exported from Lofoten for at least 1,000 years.
Stockfish is unsalted fish, especially cod, dried by cold air and wind
on wooden racks on the foreshore. The drying of food is the world's oldest
known preservation method
, and dried fish has a storage life of several years.

The sea is rich with life, and has the world's largest deep water coral reef.
Winter temperatures in Lofoten are very mild considering their location
north of the Arctic Circle.

Extract from my journal:
"Today we went ashore by tender to visit the breathtaking Lofoten Islands.
Our tour guide is a Dutch lady who moved to the Lofoten Islands with her
Norwegian husband many years ago. The waters have the most intense
colors; deep-blue, turquoise and lime-green. The sceneray is unbelievable;
I've never seen more beautiful nature in my life."

I'm currently OBSESSED with all things Scandinavia.
It's true, I've traded Paris in for nothern Europe.

I visited Norway 1,5 years ago and I still think about
that magical trip on a weekly basis.

The pictures you see here are taken in Trondheim.
Trondheim is the third largest Norwegian city,
with a population of about 175,000.

The other day I was cleaning out my bookcase and I found
my journal that I kept while traveling in Norway.
This is what I wrote:

"Today we visited Trondheim. The weather is amazing! We've been so lucky with it. An Australian tourguide took us around the city. About 20% of the population in Trondheim are students. Not surprisingly, since education is completely free in Norway, even for international students.

While walking through the streets I ate yet another cinnabun and saw loads of cute guys. Oh, and apparently boys jog shirtless here. I'm thinking about moving to Trondheim :)"

Yours truly,

Ps. I'm visiting Denmark in less than 3 weeks, so if
any of you have any suggestions on what to do &
where to eat, they would come in handy! Merci!
