Paris Photo of the Day: Marie Antoinette's Home

The Grand and Petit Trianon was built in the northwestern part of the Domain of Versailles.

The 20-year-old Louis XVI gave the château and its surrounding park to his
19-year-old Queen Marie Antoinette for her enjoyment.

Marie Antoinette longed to escape Louis and his court, and he gave her just the right place...

Marie Antoinette would come to the Petit Trianon not only to escape the formality of court life,
but also to shake off the burden of her royal responsibilities.

At Versailles, she was under considerable pressure and judgement from both her family and the court,
and the Petit Trianon was her place of ease and leisure where she could rest from those trials.

I'm trying to channel Marie Antoinette for upcoming carnaval festivities here in the South of the Netherlands.
I think I found my costume..! What do you think?

With it, I'll be wearing a blonde curly wig, pearls, feathers and pink bows in my hair!
"Let them eat cake!"

(I already do so often!)
